The Melbourne Quarter Tower (MQT) cladding project involved extensive work across multiple areas of the building, including the main lobby, hallways, and retail precinct. A variety of high-quality materials were used to highlight specific architectural features while maintaining consistency throughout the interior and exterior design.
A key element of the lobby design is the installation of three striking columns, clad with 2mm Rimex Stainless Steel using mechanical fixing to ensure long-lasting stability. These columns, with a Champagne Granex finish, create a bold visual impact at the entrance, complementing the overall aesthetics of the lobby space.
In the elevator section of the lobby, 0.8mm Rimex Stainless Steel was installed to over 300sqm of the ceiling and adjacent area. This sleek, hairline finish lends a luxurious, modern appeal to the area, blending with the lobby’s design.
The exterior retail precinct was clad using 4mm solid aluminium panels in Interpron Charcoal Pearl Matt, spanning the ground floor to the top floor. The panels were installed using a cassette fixing system, ensuring durability and precision. Below the aluminium cladding, profiled fluted solid and perforated stainless steel was added to enhance both visual depth and texture.
To provide feature and texture to the retail precinct, GRC Oko Skin Panels in Sandstone, were installed on the display boxes surrounding the retail area. These panels not only offer functional seating for visitors but also serve as a showcase for the retail spaces with integrated glass panels for store visibility.
Overall, more than 2,000 sqm of cladding were installed across both the interior and exterior of the building on multiple levels, all powder-coated in Interpron Charcoal Pearl Matt to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing aesthetic.
